In my case, I came across a poem titled The Wanderer from that era. The original verses were spoken in Old English. Here is an excerpt, which also happens to be my favorite quote of the poem, “Oft ic sceolde ana uhtna gehwylce mine ceare cwiþan. Nis nu cwicra nan þe ic him modsefan minne durre sweotule asecgan.”
